More than one million Dutch people seek professional psychological guidance every year. This is not a sign of weakness. Practice Mental Balance is therefore focused on bringing you back into balance as soon as possible. I utilize modern therapies that have proven to be effective. Hypnotherapy is such a therapeutic method to address or alleviate psychological and psychosomatic complaints relatively quickly. Hypnotherapy is a ‘gentle’ but certainly ‘not soft’ therapy. The therapy is ‘gentle’ because I, as a hypnotherapist, believe that each person has everything they need within themselves to solve their problems. It is not the therapist who possesses all the wisdom; the solution that suits you lies within you. Often, these solutions are hidden in your unconscious or have been buried over time. As a therapist, I am an instrument in therapy, using my therapeutic skills to connect you with your inner world (unconscious). In short, through hypnotherapy, you gain more control over yourself, where I, as a therapist, do not determine your path but serve as a powerful navigator to help you find your way through the labyrinth of the unconscious, where unknown solutions lie. You can also view hypnosis as an attentive way of listening to your inner voice, which may have previously expressed itself in the form of complaints but often went unheard. Hypnotherapy may be considered ‘gentle’ since the therapist is not dictating, but it is certainly ‘not a soft’ therapy in the sense of being non-committal: we see where we are aiming and where the ship lands. In hypnotherapy, clear goals are collaboratively established, and there is therapeutic guidance. While unexpected perspectives may arise, established goals remain continuously in sight. Integrative psychotherapy is also a modern form of psychotherapy in which the therapeutic methodology is not central, but the client; their help request forms the focal point. Various interventions from psychosocial therapy are utilized. My experience shows that cognitive behavioral therapy combined with hypnosis is often much more effective than single therapy.
