Ask yourself the question: what happens when you let go of certain assumptions? In this blog, Saskia van der Putten shares how she has left old beliefs behind and created space for new possibilities thanks to her own quest.
What do you believe, simply because someone tells you or because you hear it everywhere? How receptive are you to suggestions?
Take Blue Monday. It is referred to as the most depressing day of the year. Do you also feel gloomy on that day, just because people say so? Or can you detach yourself from that thought?
Another example from my own life: for years I suffered from seborrheic eczema on my scalp. It itched terribly, and my head was full of damp spots. Sometimes the itch was so bad that I had to wash my hair twice a day to make it somewhat bearable.
I had tried everything: conventional and alternative medicine. Until a dermatologist said, "This is chronic; you'll never get rid of it." His words made me laugh. No way, that's not going to happen, I thought immediately. And although it took a few more years, I am really free of it now.
What if I had believed what that dermatologist said? Would I still have sought solutions to get rid of it? Probably not. By not blindly accepting that it was 'chronic,' I created the space to find other paths and ultimately heal.
One more example: menopause. How often do you hear that it is a time of misery, with severe hot flashes, mood swings, and sleepless nights? Of course, many women experience complaints, but what if you don't just accept everything? What if you dare to explore your own experience and find ways to cope differently?
The question is: what do you accept as truth?
And more importantly: what would happen if you choose a different possibility?
Do you want to examine your beliefs and let go of what holds you back? You are warmly welcome in my practice Putten from yourself in Culemborg. Together we will discover what is possible for you.
Love,
Saskia van der Putten
